Despite singer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun) publicly protesting against MBC's investigative program 'PD Note'—which is currently probing allegations of overseas gambling and embezzlement of company funds against him—the broadcast is reportedly set to air as scheduled.
According to broadcasting industry sources on May 29, MBC's 'PD Note' is scheduled to air an episode next week addressing the various allegations surrounding MC Mong. An industry insider told SBS Entertainment News, "I understand that production is currently proceeding as planned."
Previously, MC Mong strongly denied all allegations against him and fiercely protested 'PD Note's investigation through three recent TikTok live broadcasts.
During the live broadcasts, MC Mong refuted the claims, saying, "'PD Note' asked for my position on allegations that I used company operating funds for illegal gambling, as well as the details of how company advance payments were used." He countered, "I don't even understand what it means to have gambled illegally with company funds. Everything will be clear once they check the bank accounts." He then distanced himself from the embezzlement allegations, adding, "I am in charge of producing, not accounting."
In the process, MC Mong questioned the credibility of those presumed to be the informants for 'PD Note.' He stated, "They are framing MC Mong and Chairman Cha Ga-won as shameless criminals based solely on the malicious tip-off from an individual named 'A,' who is the uncle of Chairman Cha Ga-won." He added, "I don't understand why they are attacking me and Cha Ga-won by only listening to A's side of the story." During his broadcast, he also raised allegations of illegal gambling by mentioning the real names of several entertainment industry figures, including singer Kim Min-jong.
Meanwhile, TV Chosun caused a stir by reporting that about ten days before MC Mong made his revelations about 'A' on the live broadcast, he had called 'A' in an attempt to prevent his name from being mentioned on 'PD Note.' He reportedly made remarks such as, "Sir, please let me be on the same side," "Please get me out of the media," and "Please stop everything, including what 'PD Note' is doing."
Regarding this, MC Mong explained, "It was a personal appeal to stop the conflict." He added, "Cha Ga-won is family, and 'A' is someone I once called father. I just wanted to stop this fight."
MC Mong is currently reported to be staying in Japan.
