Lee appeared in a video released on May 23 on the YouTube channel "Kim Gook-jin and Kim Yong-man's Way," where he personally clarified the health rumors sparked by his recently slurred speech.
Recently, some raised concerns about his health based on his YouTube videos, commenting, "His pronunciation is much more slurred than before," "His facial expressions aren't as active," and "Shouldn't he visit a hospital?" The worry grew even further as his past history of surgery for diabetic complications is well-known. Some went as far as spreading rumors that he might be experiencing early symptoms of a stroke.
Addressing this in the video, Lee expressed his frustration, saying, "During that (golf) round, my throat wasn't feeling well toward the end. But then, a friend of a younger acquaintance called and asked, 'Doesn't Kyung-kyu have a stroke? His speech is so slurred.'" He clarified, "My speech isn't slurred. I was just angry, and my voice went hoarse."
His close junior colleague and fellow comedian, Kim Yong-man, who also appeared in the video, vouched for Lee's health. Kim dispelled the public's worries by sharing, "He recently got a health checkup, and the results came back completely clean with absolutely no issues."
Previously, Lee's agency had also released an official statement, saying, "It was simply a temporary drop in physical strength and condition during a recent shoot. He regularly and closely monitors his health, and there are currently no issues whatsoever."
Meanwhile, the 66-year-old Lee continues to show his enduring presence as the "Godfather of Variety Shows," actively promoting across various entertainment programs, including his YouTube channel "God Kyung-kyu," while maintaining strict self-care.
