Singer MC Mong has actively denied allegations of illegal gambling surrounding him through an internet live broadcast.
MC Mong held a live broadcast on the TikTok platform at 8:00 PM on the 18th. Previously, he had announced on his social media, "I will hold a TikTok broadcast this evening at 8:00 PM to talk about past events and everything related to me with reporters."
On this day, MC Mong mentioned that MBC's 'PD Note' was preparing a broadcast alleging that he had used company funds for illegal gambling, drawing a line by stating, "I was not in charge of accounting; I was a producer. I had absolutely nothing to do with accounting." He raised his voice, adding, "Does it make sense to gamble with company money? If you look at the accounts, everything will be revealed. I have never even bought a cup of coffee with company money."
MC Mong further claimed that the people who tipped off 'PD Note' about his alleged illegal gambling are the ones who are actually involved in illegal gambling.
He alleged, "Among the so-called 'Badugi members' who gamble with stakes in the hundreds of millions of won, there is a relative of Chairman Cha Ga-won, who reported the false affair rumors between Chairman Cha and me. Beside them are a famous actor 'A' whom I once liked, a star MC whose name you would recognize, and the uncle of a world star. They play online baccarat at entertainment establishments in Japan and Korea, and even give 10 million won in tips to the staff. Famous actor 'A' receives those 10 million won tips and drives a luxury foreign car owned by Chairman Cha's relative."
MC Mong continued his unverified revelations, saying, "If it's not true, sue me. I will go to the end and disclose all the details of the tips. In particular, representative 'B' of a famous trot singer said that while the singer is suffering in prison, they use the money earned to go to Las Vegas last December and gamble in places like Macau. Such a person gave an interview to 'PD Note.' A real gambler is making me out to be a gambler."
MC Mong also explained that when he was caught for violating the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act in the past, it was for playing hold'em, not for illegal gambling. He said, "If there is a problem, I will be investigated," adding, "However, I will not just take this alone. In the past, the claim that I intentionally pulled out my molars to evade military service also turned out to be untrue. I must survive no matter what." He then unveiled his self-composed song 'Live', which contains his feelings.
Previously, in December of last year, an online media outlet sparked controversy by releasing KakaoTalk messages suggesting that MC Mong and Chairman Cha Ga-won had been in an inappropriate relationship for several years. In response, MC Mong and Chairman Cha Ga-won's side stated that the content was groundless and announced that they would take strong legal action and file a large-scale lawsuit for damages.
