As the 79th Cannes Film Festival kicks off, the activities of actors attending the festival for reasons other than having their work invited are drawing attention.
Ryu Junyeol is attending the Cannes Film Festival in the capacity of a buyer, not an actor. This schedule was made known through a Japanese filmmaker.
On the 13th, Kokawa Natsumi, representative of the Japanese film distribution company 'Elas Films', shared an anecdote about meeting Ryu Junyeol on social media. She stated, "I happened to meet Ryu Junyeol at the Cannes International Film Festival. It seemed like he came as a buyer."
Representative Kokawa Natsumi added, "When I told him that I had distributed Korean films, he asked which ones. I thought it might be a bit awkward to say it was a film starring Han So-hee, but I answered 'Heavy Snow'. He burst into laughter, saying, 'It's a Han So-hee film, of course I know it. This is really interesting.'"
Ryu Junyeol and Han So-hee briefly dated in 2024. Their relationship became known after sightings of them traveling in Hawaii, but they announced their breakup 14 days later following allegations of a relationship overlap.
Han So-hee is also visiting the Cannes Film Festival. She, too, is not there for an invited work. Han So-hee is visiting Cannes to attend the '2026 Women in Motion Award', an event hosted by a jewelry brand for which she serves as a global ambassador. Han So-hee also attended the same event last year.
The two actors, who once had a public relationship, will be staying in Cannes during the same period. Ryu Junyeol is expected to carry out his schedule as a film buyer, while Han So-hee will do so in her capacity as an ambassador.
