Singer WOODZ has issued an apology regarding the controversy surrounding the recruitment of unpaid staff for his upcoming concert in Germany.
On the 8th, WOODZ's agency, EDAM Entertainment, stated, "We have verified the facts regarding the recruitment of unpaid staff with the local concert organizer. We sincerely apologize for failing to thoroughly review the matter in advance." They added, "We will work closely with the local organizer to ensure that necessary measures are taken regarding the shortcomings in concert operations."
The agency further stated, "Moving forward, we will strengthen communication with local partners and conduct more careful and detailed checks to ensure that the entire concert operation process runs smoothly."
Previously, a recruitment notice for staff for WOODZ's world tour 'Archive.1' in Germany was posted on a local Korean and international student community.
The notice stated that those working as volunteers on the day of the show would be randomly assigned tasks such as crowd control, medical booth assistance, show running, and meal distribution. Requirements included proficiency in Korean, German, and English, with preference given to those with K-pop concert experience or knowledge of lighting and sound. However, the compensation section listed "unpaid, meals provided, and concert viewing," which sparked controversy.
In particular, the fact that staff responsible for concert operations were being offered only the opportunity to watch the show instead of payment drew significant criticism online.
Meanwhile, WOODZ is scheduled to hold his 'Archive.1' world tour concerts in Berlin, Germany, on June 7th (local time), and in Frankfurt on June 12th.
