Singer Tae Jin-ah has publicly mentioned and sent a message of support to Steve Yoo, who has been effectively ousted from the Korean entertainment industry following a social controversy regarding military service evasion, during a performance in the United States.
On the 23rd, Steve Yoo posted a video on his YouTube channel titled, "What Happens When Steve Yoo Suddenly Appears at a Tae Jin-ah Concert." The video features his attendance at a Tae Jin-ah concert held last April at the Yaamava' Resort & Casino in Los Angeles (LA).
During the performance, Tae Jin-ah told the audience, "When he first debuted, I told him. I said you will become a singer, a great singer, so never give up and keep pushing forward." He then introduced him, saying, "That singer is living here now. Everyone, this is our Steve Yoo." He added, "Never give up in the future," publicly expressing his support.
Steve Yoo was seen shedding tears while watching from below the stage. In the video description, he shared his thoughts, stating, "It was so nice to see you after such a long time, and it was a meaningful moment," adding, "Although it was a short moment, the warm encouragement and consideration will stay with me for a long time."
Previously, Steve Yoo has been involved in a legal battle regarding his entry into Korea after being banned from entering the country for acquiring U.S. citizenship in 2002 without fulfilling his military service obligations.
Last August, the Seoul Administrative Court ruled partially in favor of the plaintiff, judging that the LA Consulate General's refusal to issue a visa was unlawful. However, the court dismissed the portion regarding the Ministry of Justice's existing entry ban, stating it was not subject to separate judgment. The case is currently in the appellate stage.
