The conflict between THE BOYZ and their agency has entered a new phase as the court granted the injunction filed by nine members, except for NEW, to suspend their exclusive contracts.
On the 23rd, the legal representatives for the nine members of THE BOYZ stated, "The court has granted the application for an injunction to suspend the exclusive contracts," adding, "We have confirmed that the exclusive contracts with the agency have been legally terminated and are no longer in effect."
The court determined that their agency failed to fulfill its obligation to pay them and did not meet core contractual duties, including providing payment data, offering management support, and fulfilling artist protection obligations. Consequently, the court concluded that the trust between the two parties has reached a point where it is difficult to restore.
The members of THE BOYZ stated, "We will faithfully fulfill the schedules that were already confirmed prior to the contract termination in order to keep our promises to the fans," adding, "We hope that the follow-up procedures will be resolved amicably."
Notably, it was reported that the members had been preparing for their concert despite the ongoing conflict with their agency, and in some instances, they covered expenses out of their own pockets during the preparation process.
Additionally, knowmerce, which had been in a dispute over online streaming rights, also won its injunction against the agency. As a result, the group will take the stage one day before the concert with a significant portion of the related risks removed.
Previously, THE BOYZ's agency had argued through its legal representatives, "We paid a total of 16.5 billion KRW in exclusive contract fees to the 11 members. The contract fees already paid are in the nature of advances that are to be deducted from future earnings," and claimed, "The unpaid amounts are only a small portion, and the artists are distorting the facts."
Meanwhile, THE BOYZ are scheduled to hold their solo concert 'INTER-ZECTION' at the KSPO Dome in Seoul from the 24th to the 26th.
