Set to premiere in August, SBS’s new variety show “My Neighborhood’s Golden Era” (literal translation) is a “regional revitalization” project that aims to energize small towns facing population decline. The show combines the network’s production muscle with local government support to transform spaces into places people actually want to visit again.
The first project site is Sucheon Rest Area (formerly Yongdamho Museum of Art), located along the shores of Yongdam Lake in Jinan-gun. During the first shoot on the 13th, the cast ― Lee Kyung-kyu, Young Tak, DIN DIN, and chef Lee Won-il ― joined experts in architecture, landscaping, and business consulting to tour key attractions, eateries, and the traditional market. They studied the town’s character and potential and brainstormed ideas for bringing the space back to life.
At first, the cast was stunned by the rest stop’s state after years of neglect. But they quickly zeroed in on the site’s major hidden gem: the stunning views of Yongdam Lake. From there, creative ideas started flying as each member pitched ways to revive the space from their own perspective.
The “My Neighborhood’s Golden Era” team shared, “This unique lineup ― crossing generations and genres ― sparked an instant, feel-good chemistry on set. Watching a near-ruin transform into a stay-friendly destination through the cast’s and experts’ creativity will deliver big laughs and real heart.”
