For Season 2, applications have far exceeded expectations. According to the producers, with the same application window as Season 1, the number of applicants has already more than doubled, proving the high anticipation around the program.
That explosive interest rides on Season 1’s success. ‘The Ballad of Us’ topped ratings in the 20?49 demographic across all episodes, entered the Netflix Korea Series Top 10, and surpassed 100 million cumulative views on online clips. Plus, winner Lee Ye-ji and the TOP12 continue to draw heat post-show, selling out a nationwide tour.
Buoyed by a strong first season, the Season 2 team is ramping up preparations with a fresh format to discover voices that capture the authentic emotions of today’s teens and twenty-somethings. The producers said, “Thank you for the interest and applications beyond what we imagined,” adding, “We’re looking forward to many aspiring ballad singers who bring their own sensibility and stories.”
