After 7 Years, 'Finding Genius' Returns Tonight ― 3 Reasons to Tune In
Finding Genius
"Finding Genius" is finally back after seven years.

Premiering tonight (the 2nd) at 9 p.m. on SBS, "Finding Genius: Infinity" isn’t just about showcasing gifted kids. It’s a generation-spanning project that spotlights their present, their future, and the journeys that shaped them.

This season levels up in scale and depth. It brings together the prodigies who once drew national attention on "Finding Genius" and introduces next-gen talents on the same stage. Actors and creators Cha Tae-hyun, OH MY GIRL’s MIMI, and admissions YouTuber Mimiminu host as a 3MC team, adding warmth, witty reactions, and a grounded perspective.

Ahead of the premiere, here are three key things to watch.

# A Bridge Between Past Prodigies and New Faces

The biggest hook is a “connected growth narrative,” where past and present talents meet. Viewers will catch up with former child prodigies to see how they’ve grown. Newcomers will reveal the possibilities they carry now. The show captures how kids once dubbed “geniuses” are pursuing their dreams today―and how they connect with the next wave following in their footsteps.

Expect moving moments as the real-world growth of former prodigies intersects with the pure passion of rising talents just starting to bloom.

MC Mimiminu calls this season’s core theme “harmony between old and new.” “Current prodigies and former prodigies meet, interact, and create positive synergy,” he says. “Viewers will be smiling as they watch these gifted kids unleash their personalities and talents.”

# From the ‘Robot Prodigy’ Kang Joon-gyu, Now an Oxford Scholar, to All-New Standouts

"Finding Genius: Infinity" plans to grab attention from episode one with a powerhouse lineup. Notably, Kang Joon-gyu―once known as the “robot prodigy”―appears in the studio with an exciting update.

He recently gained admission to Mechanical Engineering at Keble College, University of Oxford, and reveals he will receive the Ellison Scholarship in full―the first Korean recipient―stunning everyone. He adds, “I got a perfect score on Oxford’s PAT,” raising eyebrows even further.

New prodigies are also set to impress. First up: a new “math prodigy” who ranks in the top 0.1% on the Wechsler scale. There’s also the story of ballet prodigies chasing their own Billy Elliot dreams.

Backed by years of production know-how, this season assembles its strongest roster yet―pairing “past prodigies” and “next-gen prodigies” across six flagship fields―for maximum impact.

# More Than Just Profiles―It’s About the Journey

What sets "Finding Genius: Infinity" apart this time is a deeper lens on what it means to be gifted. Rather than asking “How smart are they?” or “How special is their talent?”, the show looks at the worries, setbacks, and effort behind the skills―and follows their growth stories up close.

“Being a prodigy isn’t just about a result you’re born with,” says Cha Tae-hyun. “Our show lets you see the challenges and concerns these kids face. We’re not just introducing smart kids―we’re capturing a young person’s growth narrative. In particular, seeing past guests return, all grown up, to meet new prodigies will be a fascinating watch.”

Instead of treating talent as a “wow moment” to consume, "Finding Genius: Infinity" focuses on potential, time, and hard work―showing change and growth along the way. It’s less about gawking at extraordinary ability and more about joining real people as they chase their dreams. Expect a “growth documentary” with feel-good variety vibes.

"Finding Genius: Infinity" premieres tonight (Thu., the 2nd) at 9 p.m.
