The film ‘The King's Warden’ is just 220,000 tickets away from the coveted 16 million mark.

According to the Korean Film Council’s box office tracker on April 2, the movie drew 50,281 admissions nationwide on the 1st, holding onto No. 1 at the box office. Its cumulative total now stands at 15,782,131.

Only two films in Korean box office history have topped 16 million viewers: "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" (17.61 million) and "Extreme Job" (16.26 million). Currently No. 3 all-time, ‘The King's Warden’ needs to clear the 16 million milestone to chase the No. 2 spot held by "Extreme Job." Now in its ninth week, it’s pulling roughly 50,000 weekday admissions, putting D-day on track for this weekend.

Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, this historical drama follows a village head who volunteers for exile to revive his community and a young, deposed former king banished from the throne. Yoo Hae-jin and Park Ji-hoon lead the cast.
