Tablo ― who once had to personally prove his Stanford degree during the infamous “Tajinyo” saga ― found himself flipping the script, this time vetting fellow Epik High member DJ Tukutz’s school record.
On March 19, Epik High dropped a new video on their official YouTube channel “EPIKASE” titled, “Said We’d Hang by the School, Suddenly It’s a Diploma Check ft. Chairman Lee Jae-yong.” In the clip, Tablo and Mithra Jin launch “Tujinyo” ― short for “We Demand the Truth from Tukutz” ― and head straight to the campus Tukutz says he graduated from: Kyungbock High School.
“Even after I went to Stanford, Tukutz kept telling me to prove it,” Tablo jokes. “So now we’re curious. Is he really schoolmates with Chairman Lee Jae-yong?” he adds, turning up the mock suspicion.
“I’m Kyungbock High School Class of 2000, the 75th graduating class,” DJ Tukutz says, listing notable alumni like Shin Dong-yup, Yang Dong-geun, and Lee Soo-man. When he goes on to mention Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin, and Hyundai Motor Group Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-koo, Tablo fires back, “His stock portfolio is all companies tied to Kyungbock alumni.”
The trio canvasses restaurants and a billiards hall near the school, flashing Tukutz’s graduation photo and asking if anyone remembers him ― no luck. Along the way, Tukutz reminisces, “I used to lose so many bets here and cry inside,” recalling his school days.
Finally, Tablo lays it down: “Go to the school and bring something back. A diploma, a transcript ― anything.” Tukutz walks into his alma mater and returns with an official graduation certificate. Seeing the envelope, Tablo and Mithra Jin tease, “Is that a lawsuit?” and “Did you get a certified letter telling you to stop impersonating Kyungbock?” cracking up as they keep the bit going.
Inside the envelope? Tukutz’s real graduation certificate. “That’s it? It’s so simple,” Tablo says, still playing skeptical. Tukutz volleys back, “So this is how Tablo felt.” As the video wraps, Mithra Jin quips, “Now that he actually graduated, it’s not as fun,” and the three close out “Tujinyo” on a light, playful note.
Meanwhile, EPIK HIGH continues to connect with fans through “EPIKASE,” serving up videos in a variety of formats and concepts.
