'The King's Warden' Keeps Its Momentum, Poised to Surpass 13 Million This Weekend

The film "The King's Warden" is aiming to cross 13 million admissions this weekend.

According to the Korean Film Council’s box office tracker on the 13th, "The King's Warden" drew 158,650 moviegoers nationwide on the 12th, holding onto the No. 1 spot. Its cumulative admissions stand at 12,214,093.

Now in its sixth week, the film is still on a roll, even pulling bigger weekday crowds than during opening week. After attracting more than 1.7 million viewers over its fifth weekend, it’s on track to top 13 million this weekend.

On the 12th, director Jang Hang-jun thanked fans by sending a coffee truck to celebrate the 10-million milestone. A special stage greeting with the director and cast to mark the 10-million breakthrough is also planned for next week, bringing them even closer to audiences.

Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, "The King's Warden" follows a village chief who chooses exile to revive his town and a young former king exiled from the throne. The film is directed by Jang Hang-jun and stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.
