Premiering Wednesday, April 22, the new SBS rom-com “Sold Out on You” (written by Jin Seung-hee, directed by Ahn Jong-yeon) follows perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo-seop) and sellout-champion home shopping host Dam Ye-jin (Chae Won-bin) as their lives collide day and night. Following "Business Proposal," "Love Scout," and "Dynamite Kiss," SBS is unveiling another romance comedy led by a trusted cast including Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Won-bin, Kim Bum, and Ko Du-shim.
On the 10th, the cast’s script reading―packed with passion―was revealed. Director Ahn Jong-yeon, writer Jin Seung-hee, and the drama’s leads all gathered. With the director’s promise to “create a fun and happy set,” the reading kicked off, and the actors quickly locked into their characters and rhythm.
Ahn Hyo-seop channeled young farmer Matthew Lee―nicknamed “Mechuri” (a playful pun on his name that also means “quail”)―capturing his tough-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside charm with gruff lines contrasted by warm eyes. During tractor-driving and fieldwork scenes, he even added mouth-made sound effects to match the script, bringing a burst of playful energy.
Chae Won-bin, playing Hit Home Shopping’s star show host Dam Ye-jin, lit up the room with bright, sprightly energy. When persuading others to hit her goals, she exuded top-host confidence―backed by gestures that commanded attention―befitting a seller who’s racked up 1 trillion won in cumulative sales.
The chemistry between Ahn Hyo-seop and Chae Won-bin especially popped as they built the bickering spark between prickly farmer Matthew Lee and fiery city girl Dam Ye-jin. Maintaining eye contact and bouncing lines off each other, they teased the sweet-and-sparky romance fans can expect on screen.
Meanwhile, Kim Bum melted into Seo Eric, the warm-hearted executive director at cosmetics company Letual. His smooth delivery and natural, straight-to-the-point affection―complete with playful eye contact―set hearts fluttering in the room.
As Deokpung Village’s powerhouse Songhakdaek, Ko Du-shim amped up the coziness with a friendly flirt―“Want to stay for some potatoes?”―her earthy dialect, and a comforting smile. Throughout the session, she cheered on her co-stars with generous applause, anchoring the room with her steady presence.
With Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Won-bin, Kim Bum, Ko Du-shim and the ensemble diving headfirst into their roles, the reading ran hot. The cast’s synergy has fans buzzing for “Sold Out on You” to deliver heart-fluttering moments straight to their screens.
The new SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Sold Out on You,” promising wholesome thrills powered by the synergy of Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Won-bin, Kim Bum, and Ko Du-shim, premieres Wednesday, April 22 at 9 p.m.
