On the 9th, SALT Entertainment released Park Shin-hye’s closing thoughts and a Q&A following the finale of tvN’s weekend drama ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ (written by Moon Hyun-kyung, directed by Park Seon-ho and Na Ji-hyun), where she drew overwhelming love as the irreplaceable lead, Hong Geum-bo.
“I honestly didn’t expect to receive this much love,” Park said, her voice full of emotion. “Getting to work alongside such incredible actors was my greatest joy and happiness. I’m even happier that we wrapped with love going to everyone involved.”
Park added that she worked to highlight Hong Geum-bo’s spontaneous “work-mode moments,” while never losing Hong Jang-mi’s fresh, confident energy. As the most memorable line, she chose, “Hello, I’m Hong, Jang-mi. I’m 20 years old this year,” which signaled the true beginning of Hong Geum-bo’s undercover mission in the story.
To viewers who stayed with ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ until the end, she said, “Your tremendous love made me happier than words can say. I’ll keep working hard to bring you good projects and good performances.”
Following ‘Doctor Slump’ and ‘The Judge From Hell,’ Park Shin-hye once again proved her draw with bold choices and an expanded acting range in ‘Undercover Miss Hong.’ Seamlessly moving between the “Yeouido Witch” Hong Geum-bo and her undercover persona Hong Jang-mi, she balanced sharp comedy, mellow romance, and action with pitch-perfect control―making it hard to imagine anyone else in the role. With solid craft and vibrant energy that thrill global fans each project, anticipation is high for her next move.
Below is a Q&A with Park Shin-hye from ‘Undercover Miss Hong.’
Q. ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ has reached the end of its 16-episode run. How do you feel now that it’s over?
A. I’m truly happy we were able to wrap safely with so much love from everyone. I honestly didn’t expect this level of support, and I’m incredibly grateful. ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ brought together so many actors. Being able to work with such outstanding colleagues was my greatest joy and happiness. I feel even happier because we finished with love going to everyone who took part.
Q. From the “Yeouido Witch” securities inspector Hong Geum-bo to the lovable 20-year-old Hong Jang-mi―what did you focus on while playing such a shape-shifting setup and character?
A. I tried to keep Hong Geum-bo’s inevitable “work-mode moments” alive while also not losing Jang-mi’s fresh, bold side. Showing the cold securities inspector Hong Geum-bo disguising herself as 20-year-old Hong Jang-mi―without exaggeration and at the right temperature―was the trickiest part. While acting, I sometimes worried I might be making Jang-mi too comedic. After the episodes aired, viewers actually loved those scenes, which was such a relief. (Laughs)
Q. ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ sparked buzz for its sparkling chemistry across Dorm Room 301, the Crisis Management Headquarters, and the Securities Supervisory Office. How was the teamwork on set, and which scenes stick with you most?
A. We worked with so many actors on this project, and meeting such wonderful colleagues made set life genuinely happy. From the seasoned seniors to the juniors full of energy and ideas, it felt like the characters on the page came alive in exactly the right places. Every time we filmed, the rhythm felt perfectly in sync. It’s hard to pick just one scene. So much happened in Dorm 301 and at the Crisis Management Headquarters that everything that unfolded there stays with me.
Q. If you had to choose one standout line from the series, what would it be?
A. “Hello, I’m Hong, Jang-mi. I’m 20 years old this year.” That line appears when Hong Geum-bo truly begins her undercover infiltration. It felt like the line that announced the start of the story, so it’s the most memorable to me.
Q. Any comments or reactions from viewers that you found especially fun?
A. I’m grateful and happy for every comment, but I personally found the ones about the chemistry between Hong Geum-bo and Go Bok-hee (played by Ha Yoon-kyung) especially fun. (Laughs)
Q. How will ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ be remembered in your career?
A. A project where I met good people. It’s a precious work that made me promise myself to become an even better person moving forward.
Q. A final message to the viewers who loved ‘Undercover Miss Hong’?
A. Thank you sincerely for loving and watching ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ until the very end. Your immense love made me happier than anything. I’ll keep working hard to bring you good projects and good performances!
