Stand-up comedian Kim Dong-ha (39) will become the first Korean stand-up comedian to launch a solo tour across North America.
According to his agency Meta Comedy Club, Kim will bring his stand-up show “MADE IN KOREA” to North America in April. Dates and venues: ▲ April 17 ― Crescendo Studios (Falls Church), Washington, D.C., USA ▲ April 18 ― Meridian Arts Centre (North York), Toronto, Canada ▲ April 24 ― Rio Theatre, Vancouver, Canada.
Ahead of the run, Kim told SBS Entertainment News by phone, “I’m honestly so excited. I’m grateful and happy to be the first stand-up comedian from Korea to make it to the U.S. It feels extra meaningful to be ‘reverse-exported’ to the birthplace of stand-up.”
He added, “Last year, I toured 18 cities across Korea and met so many audiences. I felt how each region has a different vibe. I’m curious how American audiences will differ. I can’t wait to meet everyone and make them laugh.” Then, with his signature humor, he quipped, “I just pray no one pulls out a gun.”
The shows will be performed entirely in Korean. On his social media, Kim wrote, “Thanks to you, I’m becoming the first stand-up comedian to go to the U.S. Please come out and support this tour so we can add even more cities.”
A former teacher-turned-stand-up, Kim drew buzz and has sold out nationwide tours since 2023, cementing his star power on the live circuit. In a scene where few comedians consistently pull off national stand-up tours, Kim is cited as one of the leading names alongside Danny Cho, Song Ha-bin, and Lee Jae-gyu.
