First-gen hip-hop rapper Juvie Train (Joo Hyun-woo, 47) has shaken off rumors that he was a habitual drug user. DJ DOC’s Lee Haneul (Lee Geun-bae, 54), who raised the allegations, recently received a summary order with a fine.
According to Juvie Train’s agency on the 27th, the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors’ Office Goyang Branch issued a summary order on February 24, fining Lee Haneul 2 million won for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. The case had been forwarded in July.
If he contests the decision, Lee can take the case to a formal trial to argue guilt or innocence.
In June 2024, Juvie Train’s side filed a complaint, saying Lee made false statements during a personal livestream―alleging Juvie Train and the head of his agency's “habitual drug use,” “sexual assault,” and “fraud and embezzlement”―claims they said dealt a serious blow to their reputations and careers.
Juvie Train firmly denied the drug rumors and posted on social media that he voluntarily went to a police station for drug testing. The agency head, surnamed Lee, who had faced embezzlement-related suspicions, was ultimately cleared by prosecutors after reviews by the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office, the Seoul Regional Labor Relations Commission, and the Central Labor Relations Commission.
Juvie Train’s side added that Lee Haneul also received a 2 million won fine for insult in January, and vowed to continue taking strong legal action.
