The Feb. 27 episode dives into allegations that the “Laser Aunt” posed as a doctor and performed illegal procedures.
Hanna (alias) seemed to have it all: striking looks, a top-university medical degree, and a wealthy background. In Seoul’s Gangnam District, she was known as a “dermatologist.” Through social media, she shared procedure tips and networked widely, rising to influencer status. In elite professional circles, her presence reportedly stood out even more.
But her age didn’t line up with her supposed education and career timeline. Her mother, who once said she ran a business, was suddenly introduced elsewhere as a “judge,” and in another place as a “Ministry of Foreign Affairs employee.” Even the English test score report Hanna posted on SNS drew suspicions of being stolen. As doubts piled up, she suddenly vanished from the internet.
This wasn’t just a harmless lie. She posted as if she were treating patients. She even named a real, operating clinic as her workplace. Doctors who met her said her knowledge “wasn’t something a typical patient would know,” raising fears of “a second ‘Injection Aunt’ case.” As the illegal procedure allegations grew, the clinic director pushed back: “She’s just a regular patient here. She seems crazy, honestly―even to me.” He claimed the hospital was also harmed, but the suspicions have not died down.
"Curious Stories Y"’s hunt for Gangnam’s “Laser Aunt” airs Friday, the 27th, at 8:50 p.m.
