On the 20th, V wrote on his social media, calling the chat “part of a private, everyday conversation with an acquaintance” and adding, “I have no intention of taking sides.”
He continued, “I am very taken aback that the conversation was submitted as evidence without my consent.”
On the 12th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 31 (Presiding Judge Nam In-soo) ordered HYBE to pay Min about 25.5 billion won for a put option. HYBE’s lawsuit seeking confirmation of termination of the shareholders’ agreement was dismissed.
The court also viewed Min’s raising of ILLIT’s alleged copying of NewJeans as a legitimate expression of opinion. In that process, Min’s side submitted past KakaoTalk messages with V as evidence, which the court accepted. Those messages reportedly included V telling Min, regarding ILLIT and NewJeans, “I looked at it too and thought, ‘Yeah, this seems similar.’”
