Actor Jung Il Woo has invested in the Korean theatrical release of "Sentimental Value", a Cannes Jury Prize winner that scored nine nominations at the 98th Academy Awards.

"Sentimental Value" follows a film-director father and his two daughters who reconnect through making a movie, forcing them to face themselves and each other. The film is directed by Joachim Trier, familiar to Korean audiences for "The Worst Person in the World." It was invited to compete at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize, and is nominated in nine categories at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Jung first stepped into investing in foreign films for Korean release last September with "Together," imported by Green Narae Media. He chose "Sentimental Value" as his second project and is credited on the film. Green Narae Media is also handling import and distribution for this title.

The story’s focus on a director father and an actor daughter connected through filmmaking gives Jung Il Woo’s participation added resonance.

Jung recently wrapped the KBS 2TV weekend drama "Our Golden Days" and appeared in the Korea-Vietnam co-production "Leaving Mom" and "The Last Bullet," continuing his active slate at home and abroad. He is now expanding his scope as an investor in overseas titles.

"Sentimental Value", which is aiming for wins among its nine nominations at the 98th Academy Awards on March 15, opened in Korea on the 18th and is currently in theaters.
