'The King's Warden' Heads to Italy, Lands Competition Slot at the 28th Udine Far East Film Festival

Feature film "The King's Warden" is set to meet European audiences.

According to distributor Showbox, "The King's Warden" has been officially invited to the main competition section of the 28th Udine Far East Film Festival, running April 24 to May 2.

Held annually in the northern Italian city of Udine, the Udine Far East Film Festival is Europe’s largest showcase dedicated to Asian cinema. Korean titles such as "The Night Owl," "Deliver Us from Evil," and "The Man Standing Next" have previously been invited, and director Jang Hang-jun also won the Audience Award there with "Rebound."

Executive Director Sabrina Baracetti said, “Director Jang Hang-jun and the outstanding cast worked in fantastic harmony and synergy, resulting in a film that delivers deep resonance while remaining highly entertaining. Based on a true story, this film achieves a balanced tone that allows audiences around the world to relate to it with ease.” She added that she’s delighted to introduce a hidden chapter of Korean history to global viewers.

Set in 1457 in Cheongnyeongpo, "The King's Warden" follows a village head who voluntarily goes into exile to revive his community and a young former king who has been deposed and banished. The film opened on the 4th and surpassed 4 million admissions nationwide in Korea in just 15 days.
