The film ‘The King's Warden’ dominated theaters over the Lunar New Year and kept its momentum even after the holiday.
According to the Korean Film Council’s box office database on the 20th, ‘The King's Warden’ drew 239,792 moviegoers nationwide on the 19th, bringing its cumulative admissions to 4,414,705.
Over the five-day Lunar New Year break, the film attracted 2.66 million viewers, pushing its total past 4 million. Even on the weekday after the holiday, it pulled in 230,000-plus daily admissions, showing no signs of cooling down.
At this pace, it’s on track to pass 5 million this weekend. It has also widened the gap with competitor ‘HUMINT,’ effectively running unopposed at the box office.
Meanwhile, ‘HUMINT’ recorded 54,836 admissions nationwide on the same day.
