Park We and Song Ji-eun shared that marriage is teaching them to accept each other’s differences and learn what “real love” looks like.
The couple, who serve as ambassadors for Compassion, an international child sponsorship and development organization, recently released an interview video that opens up about their everyday life and their heart for giving.
They married in October 2024 and are now 1 year and 3 months into marriage. Park and Song said they’re recognizing their differences and, through that, learning “real love.”
Park said, “When we were dating, I thought everything clicked. After we got married, I realized my wife had been putting my opinions first out of consideration for me.” He added that this helped him encourage her to express her own feelings and thoughts more honestly.
Song shared, “Meeting someone who accepts me as I am has made my heart feel freer,” adding, “If we raise children in the future, I want to honor and love them just as they are.”
They also described marriage as “a gateway into a new dimension of love you could never learn alone,” stressing the importance of honest conversations and treating each other as one team.
The interview features reflections on married life as well as the couple’s volunteer and giving activities.
Part 2, out on the 12th, follows their Compassion Vision Trip to Kenya, where they met with children, and a pilgrimage in Türkiye―tracing the couple’s journey of giving. “We promised to be like a small church when we got married,” Song said. “In Kenya, I was reminded that it means sharing in others’ pain and time, and cheering on their dreams.”
The video also introduces how they came to sponsor a child named Fidelis, who was at risk of dropping out of school due to financial hardship, and their meeting with Hope, a former Compassion participant who is now a medical student. Their candid look at marriage and their warm-hearted acts of giving can be found on Compassion Korea’s official YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, Compassion is an international child development organization operating in 29 countries. It connects children suffering from poverty with sponsors and provides holistic care―intellectual, social-emotional, physical, and spiritual―until they become self-reliant adults.
