With scene-stealing turns and a knack for memorable characters, Kim is cementing his status as one to watch.
He next switches things up in the Lezhin Snack short-form series "My Baby Daddy Is My Best Friend", dropping February 4, teasing a fresh character shift that has fans curious. The buzz also spotlights Kim’s step-by-step rise, powered by sharp instincts and easy charisma.
First, Kim made a strong impression in the box-office smash "The Roundup: Punishment," which drew 11.5 million moviegoers. As digital forensics detective Kang Nam-su, he brought a steady, thoughtful presence in high-stakes moments, backing the team with quiet resolve. His focused gaze, precise delivery, and meticulous energy fleshed out a sharp analyst who subtly moved the story forward.
On SBS’s "Flex x Cop," he broke out as Choi Kyung-jin, the spirited maknae of the Violent Crimes Unit, injecting the series with lively, witty banter―and even a playful permed look that amped up his charm. The role earned him Best New Actor at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards, and he’s set to bring even more humor and heart in "Flex x Cop 2," now in the works.
Kim also brought breezy fun to KBS2’s fusion sageuk "The First Night with the Duke" as the pure-yet-quirky Cha Doo-ho. Now, another transformation is on deck. In "My Baby Daddy Is My Best Friend"―directed by Lee Byung-hun of "Extreme Job," "Twenty," and "Be Melodramatic"―Kim plays Gu-in, who’s blindsided when his longtime female friend Jae-ah (Choi Hyo-joo) asks him to be her baby’s dad. Expect rapid-fire quips, big emotional swings, and a warm, offbeat take on modern family vibes.
