BTS’s new album has cleared 4 million preorders in just one week.
According to distributor YG PLUS, the group’s fifth full-length, "ARIRANG", logged 4.06 million preorders as of the 22nd―an eye-popping feat just seven days after reservations opened on the 16th.
That early momentum already outpaces the group’s best-selling album to date, "Map of the Soul: 7." That 2020 release notched 3.42 million preorders in its first week and ultimately sailed past 5 million in sales (per Circle Chart). "ARIRANG" is accelerating even faster―and with roughly two months to go before release, industry watchers are bracing for where the final tally could land.
The comeback hype is popping across the board. After BTS announced the album and an upcoming world tour on Weverse, membership sign-ups reportedly tripled. On Spotify, "ARIRANG" surpassed 1 million pre-saves in two days and crossed 2 million by day four. All eyes are on whether BTS can eclipse the all-time pre-save record―around 6 million―set by Taylor Swift with her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl."
"ARIRANG" marks BTS’s first full-group project in about three years and nine months, arriving March 20 at 1 p.m. KST. The album explores identity, longing, and deep, universal love―emotions poised to resonate with listeners worldwide.
