Singer and actress Nana has filed a criminal complaint for false accusation against the suspect in last year’s home invasion at her residence.
Her agency Sublime said on the 21st that on November 15 of last year, Nana and her mother were victims of a serious crime when an intruder armed with a weapon broke into their home. From the outset, investigators pursued the case as aggravated robbery causing injury based on clear evidence and witness statements. The suspect has since been indicted on those charges, and the trial is underway.
According to the agency, the suspect showed no remorse, repeatedly changed his story, and filed a countersuit against the victims. Sublime condemned what it called a campaign of distortion and rumor-mongering that exploited Nana’s public profile, causing further harm beyond the initial crime.
Police recently dismissed the countersuit, determining there was no basis for the allegations. Nana’s team said that official finding confirmed the claims were false, prompting them to immediately file a complaint for false accusation in response to what they described as deliberate, malicious secondary harm.
“We will not let this go,” Sublime added, vowing to pursue every possible civil and criminal remedy to hold the suspect accountable and to protect the victim’s dignity and safety without compromise.
On November 15 of last year, a man in his 30s allegedly broke into Nana’s home while she was with her mother, brandished a weapon, and was arrested after a struggle. He later claimed self-defense and filed a countersuit accusing Nana and her mother of assault and attempted murder, but police have now rejected those claims.
At a hearing on the 20th for the aggravated robbery causing injury case, the defendant denied the charges and alleged that Nana attacked him with a weapon. Nana is expected to testify as a witness. The next court date is set for March 10.
