MMA fighter Myung Hyun-man has donated all the spectator contributions collected during his latest bout to support families in crisis in Korea.
On December 31, Myung headlined the boxing main event at “DOMVS 1,” held at the DOMVS arena in Apgujeong, Seoul, where he scored a TKO win over Kim Nanshin. He directed every won raised on site that night to the nonprofit Good Neighbors.
The funds will first assist the family of “Jeong-hu” (a pseudonym, age 6), featured in Good Neighbors’ domestic crisis support campaign. Jeong-hu lives alone with his mother, who is battling stage 3 breast cancer, and the family urgently needs help with medical and living expenses. Good Neighbors provides tailored, comprehensive aid to households in crisis, including healthcare, living costs, and education support.
With this gift, Myung will be registered with Good Neighbors’ special donor circle, The Neighbors Club―an association of supporters who contribute at least 10 million won annually and champion a culture of giving through standout philanthropy.
“I’m grateful that what I do best―fighting―can genuinely help someone,” Myung said. “I hope this encourages more people to join in and spread a positive giving culture.”
“We’re deeply thankful to Myung Hyun-man and the sports fans who joined him in supporting Jeong-hu and his mother after hearing their story,” said Tae-heon Lee, head of fundraising marketing at Good Neighbors. “We’ll continue to stand by families and children in difficult circumstances so they can hold on to hope.”
Since retiring, Myung has been running the “Myung Hyun-man’s Soy Sauce Marinated Crab” brand and connecting with fans on his YouTube channel. He recently appeared on the tvN series I Am Boxer.
