Kwon Sang-woo’s new film "Heartman" opened at No. 3 at the Korean box office.
Per the Korean Film Council’s KOBIS database on Jan. 15, "Heartman" drew 26,689 admissions on opening day (Jan. 14), landing in third place. The film had ranked in the top tier of advance ticketing, but the first-day turnout was softer than hoped.
"Once We Were Us" held the top spot with 52,687 moviegoers. After claiming No. 1 over its second weekend, the romance has now led the daily chart for four consecutive days. Its cumulative admissions stand at 1,207,536.
"Avatar: Fire and Ash" attracted 28,347 viewers the same day to finish second, lifting its cume to 6,176,229. Five weeks into release, its daily audience has slipped into the 20,000 range, making a 7 million milestone look like a long shot.
