The fiery showdown between underdog “Black Spoon” chefs trying to upend the hierarchy with pure flavor and the country’s elite “Silver Spoon” star chefs reaches its climax in today’s finale, Episode 13, where the champion is unveiled.
In Episodes 11 and 12, the Top 7 locked in, and the pressure spiked fast. In the first semifinal’s “infinite cooking heaven,” Choi Kang-rok shattered the high score on his very first attempt to punch his ticket to the final. The second semifinal flipped to “infinite cooking hell,” a nonstop carrot-only gauntlet that ran until just one chef remained. After a brutal 30 minutes, only two stood tall: the softly spoken powerhouse Hudukjuk and the so-called “Cooking Monster.” With Hudukjuk’s impeccably executed yu xiang-style carrot dish facing off against the Monster’s carrot cake, judges Baek Jong-won and Ahn Sung-jae were left agonizing over who would advance to challenge Choi.
Episode 13 pits Choi against the final qualifier in a no-retreat, high-stakes cook-off―personal, ambitious, and all on the line. Last season, Edward Lee and “Napoli Mafia” Kwon Sung-joon cooked dishes worthy of their names; this year, a new theme promises to push the finalists even further.
When that theme is revealed, even the Season 2 chefs watching from the sidelines gasp―“That’s huge,” “That’s tough”―and judge Ahn admits, “I’ve never tried this before.” Expect an edge-of-your-seat finale where anything can happen―and only one can claim the title.
