On Dec. 30, Sookhaeng posted a handwritten apology on social media, writing, “I sincerely apologize for causing concern with a personal matter that surfaced recently.”
She added that she will step away from MBN’s competition series "The Best K-Trot Singer 3" to avoid further disruption. “I’m deeply sorry to my fellow contestants and the production team, who are doing their best in the competition,” she wrote.
While promising to reflect and act responsibly, Sookhaeng signaled she will address the claims in court. “All facts will be clarified through legal procedures,” she said, asking the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified rumors that could cause irreparable harm to her family and the program.
The statement follows a Dec. 29 broadcast of JTBC’s news program "Crime Chief" that raised allegations a female trot singer―identified only as “A”―was involved with a married man. A woman who said she is a homemaker claimed her husband began living with the singer in February and said she has filed a lawsuit against the performer as an alleged affair partner. The show also aired CCTV footage purportedly showing “A” kissing the husband in an elevator. In response, “A” maintained she began dating him believing his marriage was effectively over and in the process of legal separation, adding that she ended the relationship after learning otherwise and conveyed an apology to the wife.
Speculation quickly mounted over the identity of “A,” and Sookhaeng has now confirmed she is the singer in question―while emphasizing she intends to correct the record through legal due process.
