Enoch joins the 10th-anniversary production of the musical "Fan Letter" as the new Kim Hae-jin, channeling the tortured romance of a genius novelist in a refined cover shoot and candid interview that underscore his commitment to the role.

On Dec. 30, producer Live Co. unveiled Enoch’s photo spread and interview from the January issue of TheaterPlus, where he graces the cover. Marking 18 years since his debut and fresh off a string of TV and stage projects, Enoch inhabits the era’s most celebrated novelist, Kim Hae-jin, with striking emotional depth.

In the images, he captivates with a modern take on a 1930s literary figure―pairing a deep green leather jacket with a crisp white shirt for a sleek, forceful cover look. In another shot, a dark suit against a shadowed backdrop evokes the solitude of an artist burdened by the pain of his time and the weight of creation.

His trademark gentle charisma comes through in a gaze rich with backstory. The wistful focus and quiet ache in his eyes mirror Kim Hae-jin’s inner world, letting the character’s layered emotions linger long after the frame.

Speaking with the magazine, Enoch reflected on joining the 10th-anniversary run. After his first performance, he likened the feeling to a comforting home-cooked meal. “I was nervous right up until I went on,” he said. “But it was the good kind―the rush you get right before you show the work you’ve poured yourself into. It felt great to be back in those nerves.”

On preparation, he added, “Watching other actors work helped me find so many answers. The ‘Fan Letter’ rehearsal room was always a celebration. Everyone loves this piece, so the focus was intense―it was a big lesson. Every actor and staff member was so generous. It was a happy room.”

Enoch also offered a layered read on Kim Hae-jin: “The director emphasized his warmth. He’s mature in some ways but, in others, carries the emotions of a teenage boy. He’s warm yet fragile, stubborn, even frustrating at times. He’s hard to play―but that’s exactly why he’s fascinating.”

As for the show’s allure, he pointed to the beauty of its unhurried pace. “It moves slowly―and that’s what makes it beautiful,” he said. “It breaks love into all its shades―flutter, boredom, anger, obsession, delusion.” He cited a line from “Hae-jin’s Letter”: “In the end, we indulged in every form of love and savored every ecstasy love could offer.”

Set in 1930s Korea under Japanese colonial rule, “Fan Letter” is an original musical inspired by the Group of Nine, the literary circle that included Kim Yoo-jung and Ri Sang. Through genius author Kim Hae-jin, aspiring writer Jung Se-hoon, and Hikaru―the muse cloaked in mystery―the show paints a seductive portrait of artists’ passion and love. Since its 2016 premiere, it has grown into a standout original Korean musical with a devoted following.

Over the last decade, “Fan Letter” has played in China, Japan, and Taiwan, and recently mounted a showcase in London, further cementing its global footprint. The 10th-anniversary production, praised for blending legacy and new casts, continues to build momentum, with Enoch’s nuanced performance drawing particular attention.

“Fan Letter” runs through Feb. 22, 2026, at the CJ Towol Theater at Seoul Arts Center.
