Posting to her YouTube community on the 19th, Short Mouth Sun apologized to fans, writing that she is reflecting on the controversy and allegations, and will acknowledge any wrongdoing without excuses or attempts to evade responsibility.
Addressing her ties to “Injection Aunt,” she said, “We first met at a clinic in Gangnam introduced by an acquaintance, so I had no reason to doubt she was a doctor and received treatment believing she was licensed. I understood Ms. Lee to be a practicing physician. On days I was swamped, she did come to my home, but I have never been to hers.”
“Not being more careful and prudent was a serious lapse in judgment,” she continued. “I deeply regret causing discomfort and harm to fans and many others. I hope any fallout is minimized for everyone involved.” She added that she will exit all current programs and suspend all scheduled work.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone who supported me despite my shortcomings, and I will face the situation with honesty and care,” she wrote, reiterating her apology to fans.
On the 18th, a local outlet reported that, following comedian Park Na-rae and KEY of SHINee, Short Mouth Sun was also suspected of receiving illegal medications and IV drips from Ms. Lee, known online as “Injection Aunt.”
With 1.76 million subscribers, Short Mouth Sun is one of Korea’s top food-content creators and has crossed over to television, appearing on tvN’s "Amazing Saturday" and "The Must-Try Restaurants." She was a longtime regular on "Amazing Saturday" alongside Park Na-rae and KEY; all three have now paused entertainment activities amid the “Injection Aunt” scandal.
