Actor Roh Jae-won shared his thoughts on working with T.O.P in 'Squid Game' Season 2, saying, "It looked like he was acting with his life on the line."
During a post-finale interview for 'Squid Game' Season 3 held in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 9th, Roh spoke about his experience working with T.O.P in Season 2. "The actor T.O.P really adored and loved Thanos. It felt like he was truly putting his life into his performance, which was also a huge motivation for me," he said.
Roh added, "Having a co-star who acts with such intensity helped me a lot in my role as Namgyu. I believe there wouldn't have been a Namgyu like this without T.O.P's portrayal of Thanos. Naturally, I also started to think as Namgyu. Understanding Namgyu's jealousy and sense of inferiority towards Thanos became easier. This process even sparked the idea of Namgyu imitating Thanos in Season 3."
True to his words, Namgyu in Season 3 mimics the speech patterns of Thanos from Season 2. Roh Jae-won's chameleon-like acting skills shone in these scenes, which also went viral on reels, captivating audiences worldwide.
"On set, I would often imitate T.O.P's acting during rehearsals. Seeing me do that, Director Hwang Dong-hyuk asked, 'What are you doing? Imitating Thanos?' and suggested we incorporate that," Roh revealed the backstory.
