Actress Oh Min-ae opens up about the painful memories of her time as a child head of household.

Airing over two days, the '2025 SBS Hope TV' first shared on May 23 the realities faced by descendants of independence activists and Koreans living in the former Soviet Union, along with actress Kim Hye-ja's visit to Africa, moving viewers deeply. The following segments on May 24 will shine a light on the lives of child heads of households, exploring ways to support them.

Actress Oh Min-ae, actor Lee Pil-mo, and SBS announcer Choi Young-ju will highlight the forgotten lives of these child heads of households. The stories of five children who have taken on the burden of supporting their families at a young age will be shared.

Child heads of households refer to children under 18 who must take on domestic chores, caregiving, and financial responsibilities due to their parents' death, illness, or divorce. The broadcast will introduce the heartbreaking realities of five families, including 8-year-old Suzy, who cares for her severely disabled parent; siblings Hee-sung (16) and Hee-ju (14), who look after their terminally ill mother while juggling part-time jobs; and 17-year-old Byung-kwon, who cares for his father undergoing kidney dialysis.

Recently starring as the mother of Gwansik in the Netflix drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', actress Oh Min-ae revealed that she too was a child head of household, confessing, "I hoped someone would adopt me." Overwhelmed by the resurgence of these memories and the poignancy of her story, Oh Min-ae was moved to tears throughout the filming.

Meanwhile, actor Lee Pil-mo, a father of two, expressed deep empathy, saying, "It's heartbreaking to see children who should be pampered taking on the responsibility of their families."

SBS 'Hope TV', in collaboration with the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, will be broadcast on May 24 (Saturday) from 8:40 AM to 11:10 AM on SBS.
