The Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang' has confirmed its release date and unveiled a teaser poster and trailer.

The highly anticipated Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang', featuring a stellar cast including Lee Jae-wook, Jo Bo-ah, Jung Ga-ram, Uhm Ji-won, Park Byung-eun, and Kim Jae-wook, is set to premiere on May 16. 'Dear Hongrang' is a mystery romance period drama that tells the story of 'Hong-rang', the son of the largest trading group in Joseon, who returns after 12 years with no memory. Only his half-sister 'Jae-i' doubts his identity, and an inexplicable emotion begins to develop between them. Directed by Kim Hong-sun, known for 'Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area', 'The Guest', and 'Voice', and written by Kim Jin-a of 'Dr. Brain', the series is generating high expectations.

The teaser poster released on the 17th captures the intriguing encounter between 'Hong-rang' (Lee Jae-wook) and 'Jae-i' (Jo Bo-ah) after 12 years. The tension between 'Hong-rang', who returns with lost childhood memories, and 'Jae-i', who suspects him of being an imposter, piques curiosity about how their relationship will unfold.

Additionally, the image of a young 'Hong-rang' wandering through a dark forest with a fearful expression raises questions about the reasons behind his disappearance. The tagline "Swallowing Secrets and Truths" adds to the intrigue, making viewers wonder if the returned 'Hong-rang' is truly the brother 'Jae-i' has been desperately searching for and what truths he might be hiding.

The teaser trailer, released alongside the poster, begins with young 'Hong-rang' searching for his sister in a gloomy forest, while young 'Jae-i' desperately searches for him. As imposters line up to claim 'Hong-rang's identity to seize the trading group's wealth, the real 'Hong-rang' appears after 12 years. However, 'Jae-i' immediately dismisses him as a fake, and the tension between 'Hong-rang' and 'Jae-i' is palpable.

Meanwhile, the appearance of 'Moo-jin' (Jung Ga-ram), the adopted son of the trading group who steps in for 'Hong-rang', 'Min Yeon-ui' (Uhm Ji-won), the group's matriarch and 'Hong-rang's biological mother, 'Shim Yeol-guk' (Park Byung-eun), the group's leader and the biological father of 'Hong-rang' and 'Jae-i', and 'Han Pyeong-daegun' (Kim Jae-wook), an artist with the finest aesthetic sense in Joseon, adds layers of intrigue to the unfolding events surrounding 'Hong-rang' and 'Jae-i'.

In a climactic scene, 'Hong-rang' skillfully fends off mysterious attackers with his sword, declaring, "How dare you harm my sister?" This moment shifts the focus to how the relationship between the two, once filled with suspicion and caution, will evolve.

Based on the popular novel 'Tangeum: Swallowing Gold' by Jang Da-hye, the series draws its title from an ancient Chinese punishment of swallowing gold until death, symbolizing the beautiful yet cruel fate awaiting the protagonists. With its fresh take on historical conventions and compelling characters defying destiny, 'Dear Hongrang' promises to captivate viewers. The intertwining of mystery and romance, the return of 'Hong-rang' after 12 years, the resurgence of child disappearance cases, and the mysterious rumors of a snowman following these events are expected to deliver a multi-layered narrative that transcends genres.
