This summer, the movie 'Big Deal' is set to kick off the blockbuster season with its release on June 3, and the first poster has just been unveiled.
'Big Deal' is set against the backdrop of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. It tells the story of Jong-rok, a finance director whose life revolves around a soju company, and In-beom, an employee of a global investment firm focused solely on profit. They clash over the fate of Korea's beloved national soju.
The first poster features Korea's national treasures, actors Yoo Hae-jin Yoo and Lee Je-hoon, along with another star of 'Big Deal'―soju. During the 1997 financial crisis, foreign capital began to flow into Korea, and the once-dominant National Soju faced bankruptcy. Seizing this opportunity, Choi In-beom (played by Lee Je-hoon), a Korean employee of a global investment firm, approaches the company with the intent to sell it. Meanwhile, Pyo Jong-rok (played by Yoo Hae-jin Yoo), who has dedicated his life to the soju company, is determined to save it.
The poster captures the intriguing dynamic between Jong-rok, who is fighting to protect the soju company, and In-beom, who harbors ambitions to take it over. It also piques curiosity about how soju, a companion to the joys and sorrows of the Korean people, will play a role in the film.
'Big Deal' is set to hit theaters in the first week of June, just as the summer movie season begins. While late July and early August are traditionally the peak season, the film aims to get a head start and capitalize on the summer rush.
You can catch the movie in theaters starting June 3.
