Yook Sung-jae from 'The Haunted Palace' transforms into the 'evil god Imoogi,' unleashing a thousand-year-old charm.

Set to premiere this April, SBS' new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) is a fantasy romantic comedy. It follows the story of a shaman named Yeori, who rejects her fate as a medium, and Imoogi Kang Cheol, trapped in the body of Yeori's first love, Yoon Gap. They encounter a vengeful spirit, Palcheokgui, leading to a tangled mess of body and soul. Directed by Yoon Sung-sik, known for dramas like 'Mr. Queen,' 'You Are the Best!,' 'Bridal Mask,' and 'Dae Jo-yeong,' and written by Yoon Soo-jung, who penned 'The King's Face' and 'Cheer Up!,' the drama features a cast including Yook Sung-jae (as Yoon Gap/Kang Cheol), Kim Ji-yeon (as Yeori), and Kim Ji-hoon (as Lee Sung).

Yook Sung-jae, in particular, takes on the dual role of Yoon Gap, Yeori's first love, and the evil god Imoogi 'Kang Cheol.' He transitions from a gentle and intelligent nobleman to an irresistible evil god, sweeping through the palace and city with his 'supreme charisma.' Expectations are high for Yook Sung-jae's performance as 'Kang Cheol.'

On March 18, the 'The Haunted Palace' team released stills of Yook Sung-jae possessed by 'Imoogi Kang Cheol.'

In the released stills, Yook Sung-jae sheds the soft image of nobleman Yoon Gap, revealing overwhelming charisma. The most striking feature is the distinct scales of the Imoogi emerging along his neck. The blend of his pale skin with the Imoogi's traces exudes a mysterious beauty and intimidation. His cold, sharp gaze further conveys the aura of an omnipotent 'evil god.'

Additional stills capture Yook Sung-jae's intriguing portrayal of a nobleman with a touch of madness. Dressed in formal attire, he is seen lounging on a bench, his mischievous expressions and gestures adding humor. Moreover, Yook Sung-jae stands boldly on the palace roof in broad daylight, looking down on the human world, showcasing unpredictable eccentricity and an irresistible arrogance.

From overwhelming charisma to quirky and bizarre traits that transcend the human realm, Yook Sung-jae perfectly embodies the ancient charm of the evil god Imoogi, leaving viewers in awe. Anticipation builds for the main broadcast of 'The Haunted Palace,' promising a performance where Yook Sung-jae truly shines.

'The Haunted Palace,' set to open a new chapter in K-fantasy historical dramas, will premiere this April, following the currently airing 'Buried Hearts.'
