Webtoon artist and television personality Kian84 has spread positive influence by donating 100 million won to seniors who collect waste paper for a living.
On the 21st, the first episode of the "Donation Designer" content was released on the YouTube channel "CELEBIN." The video captures the process of Kian84 and creator JOOPOSITIVE visiting seniors who collect waste paper to deliver the donations in person.
This donation was carried out for 100 seniors facing financial difficulties or living in welfare blind spots, with the assistance of the Seodaemun-gu Office and the Community Chest of Korea. The donation totals 100 million won, with 1 million won provided to each individual. This marks the third donation Kian84 and JOOPOSITIVE have made as part of the "100 Challenge."
JOOPOSITIVE introduced Kian84, saying, "We have always thought about how we could be of more help to the donation recipients. We started 'Donation Designer' because we thought that if we showed that process through content, more people might join in."
In the video, the two visited seniors who make a living by collecting waste paper. One senior shared the harsh reality, saying, "It’s 50 won per 1kg, so it takes two months to collect about 70,000 to 80,000 won," while another senior brought tears to viewers' eyes by saying, "My only wish is to live without being sick until I die."
When Kian84 handed over 1 million won, one senior teared up, saying, "1 million won is an amount of money I rarely hear about in my life, so I am very grateful." When asked what they wanted to do, the senior replied, "I want to eat galbi (short ribs)," to which Kian84 warmly replied, "Please eat something delicious and stay healthy."
Another senior expressed their gratitude with a hug, saying, "Thank you for visiting an old person," leaving a brief but deep resonance at the scene.
After finishing the donations, Kian84 shared his thoughts, saying, "You worked hard. I am grateful that I can do this every year," and added, "Thank you for recognizing this even amidst your busy schedules." He maintained a calm attitude, stating, "Donation is not something that should be forced; I hope it is done by those who want to try it."
