The co-ed group "Triangle" from the movie "Wild Sing" has released their single "Love is" along with a music video.
"Wild Sing" is a comedy film about "Triangle," a three-member co-ed dance group that once dominated the music scene but disbanded overnight due to an unexpected incident. The film is drawing attention by releasing the music and music video for "Love is," the debut and signature song of "Triangle" within the movie.
"Love is" was released simultaneously at noon on April 21 through major domestic music sites such as Genie, Melon, FLO, Bugs, and VIBE, as well as global platforms including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. "Love is" is a dance-pop track that modernizes the bright and hopeful melodies of the golden age of dance music from the mid-to-late 90s to the early 2000s, leaving an impression by blending familiar sensibilities with a sophisticated sound.
Notably, composer Shim Eun-ji (JYP Entertainment), who has worked with various artists including TWICE on "KNOCK KNOCK" and "YES or YES," as well as SHINee, IU, and ITZY, participated to enhance the quality of the track. The song stands out with its upbeat sound, lyrics capturing the flutter of love, and a highly addictive chorus that is impossible to forget after one listen.
The accompanying music video immediately captures the eye by summoning the sensibilities of that era. It perfectly recreates the unique analog feel of music videos from that time, utilizing a 4:3 aspect ratio, retro frame composition, emotional filters applied to the foreground, and "eye-lighting" effects that make the eyes pop. Combined with restrained camera movements, it revives the visual language of past music videos in a modern way.
Furthermore, the visual concept completes a sharp contrast by using red for "Hyun-woo" (Gang Dong-won), green for "Domi" (Park Ji-hyeon), and blue for "Sang-gu" (Um Tae-goo) against a white background.
The music and performance add to the quality. The trendy intro that intricately breaks down the beat and the easy-to-follow choreography created by choreographer Yang Wook (Nana Company) exert a powerful pull when combined with the addictive melody. In particular, the combination of three characters with distinct charms―"Dance Machine" Hyun-woo, who shows off flashy b-boying; "Storm Rapper" Sang-gu, who leaves an impact with his rapping; and "Definitive Center" Domi, who captures attention at once―raises expectations for their teamwork in the film.
"Wild Sing," where you can see the activities of the co-ed group Triangle, will be released on June 3.
