'Meal Date Ticket' Assault Arrest Sparks Speculation, Fueling Doxxing of Unrelated Female Idol

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of forcible sexual contact after meeting a female streamer through a so-called “meal date ticket.” Now, unrelated female idols are facing a wave of doxxing and rumor-fueled secondhand harm.

According to Channel A on the 16th, Seoul Gangnam Police arrested a man, B, after a report from female internet broadcaster A. B allegedly bought a “meal date ticket” worth about 3 million won, had dinner and drinks with A, then took her to his home and made non-consensual physical contact.

In video from the scene, officers arrive and ask the man if the woman is with him, then place him in handcuffs. When asked why, police say it is “for safe transport.”

A’s side says they had secured a promise of “no sexual contact,” but that his attitude changed. They claim there was forced touching despite her refusal, and an attempted sexual assault. B reportedly acknowledged physical contact but partially denied the allegations, saying it was not forced.

Police are reviewing the scope of potential charges, including whether there was an attempted sexual assault, and will decide whether to seek an arrest warrant.

The case has also reignited debate over “meal date ticket” content. In this format, a BJ/streamer offers a meal or meetup to supporters who donate above a set amount, often via drawing or auction. Some view it as simple fan service. But critics warn that as prices climb or meetings turn private, it can morph into a system that effectively monetizes personal relationships.

The fallout is now hitting people not involved in the incident. After reports identified B as a “family member of a famous girl group member,” online posts began naming specific female idols and sharing photos, driving reckless speculation.

Some users are spreading comments like “Isn’t he ___’s older brother?”―behavior that amounts to doxxing.
