The Korean horror film ‘Salmokji : Whispering Water’ opened today (8th) and immediately hit No. 1 in both advance ticket share and ticket count, ramping up box-office buzz.

As of the morning of the 8th, ‘Salmokji : Whispering Water’ posted a 28.3% advance ticket share with 75,000 tickets sold, topping both charts. It outpaced ‘The King's Warden’ and ‘Project Hail Mary,’ flexing the strength of a fresh new release.

‘Salmokji : Whispering Water’ follows a street-view filming team that steps into SalmokjiReservoir, a place dogged by eerie rumors―and unleashes a chilling chain of events. The film stars Kim Hye-yoon, Lee Jong-won, and Kim Joon-han.

The old “horror equals summer” rule is long gone. These days, horror titles often skip the crowded summer slate and find success in the off-season, like spring and fall. ‘Salmokji : Whispering Water’ is rolling out in spring.

Tailored with post-production for premium formats like ScreenX, ‘Salmokji : Whispering Water’ aims squarely at teen and 20-something moviegoers who crave heightened sights and sounds. With a break-even point around 800,000 admissions, opening weekend results will be crucial to its run.
