On the April 5 broadcast of SBS’s "Running Man", the three leads of the film "Audition 109" ― Jung Woo, Jung Soo-jung, and Shin Seung-ho ― appear as guests ahead of the movie’s April 22 release.
"Audition 109" tells the story that follows "Wish", a word-of-mouth hit from 2009 that’s often called an “unofficial 10-million” film. The new movie draws on Jung Woo’s own life. He plays "Audition 109", an aspiring actor who keeps getting knocked down but hangs on to a single dream. In the film, Jung Soo-jung plays "Audition 109"’s girlfriend, Min-hee, while Shin Seung-ho plays his friend Jang-jae, each adding their own flavor to the story.
This week’s "Running Man" turns the film into a “War of the Jjang: Ladder of Fate” race. Through a ladder game to crown the nation’s top “jjang,” the race becomes a tense mind game as ladder positions keep shifting based on mission results.
During the recent recording, Jung Woo ― the film’s lead and first-time director ― shocked Yoo Jae-suk with full-send energy. When Yoo Jae-suk hid a mission item in his pants pocket, Jung Woo went all in, even engaging in a tussle as he started rifling through Yoo’s pockets without hesitation. When Jung Woo’s hands wandered somewhere unintended, Yoo Jae-suk shouted, “I don't feel so good right now. That’s not a prop,” cracking everyone up on set.
Meanwhile, the long-awaited meeting of Jung Woo and Song Ji-hyo ― once rumored online to be “doppelgangers” ― finally happened. The two, who fans joked could pass for real siblings, drew attention not just for their similar looks but also for their matching, win-at-all-costs competitive streaks.
The “War of the Jjang: Ladder of Fate” episode of "Running Man" featuring Jung Woo, Jung Soo-jung, and Shin Seung-ho airs Sunday, April 5 at 6:10 p.m.
