Unstoppable Variety Power: 'Whenever Possible' Tops Tuesdays for 13 Straight Weeks

SBS variety show “Whenever Possible” locked in No. 1 in the 20-49 demo for its time slot and held the top spot among Tuesday entertainment shows for 13 consecutive weeks.

According to Nielsen Korea’s Seoul Capital Area ratings on the 1st, the latest “Whenever Possible” episode peaked at 5.4%, with 3.9% household ratings and 1.5% in 20-49. The 20-49 rating ranked No. 1 in its time slot. The show also led all Tuesday entertainment and drama programs for 13 straight weeks, flexing its unrivaled variety power.

Actors Park Hae-soo and Lee Hee-joon joined as “Gap Friends,” bringing big luck to local “Gap Owners” around Ssangmun-dong in Seoul.

Before the games started, Park and Lee switched on “dad mode.” Lee said, “We both have sons, so we’re confident when it comes to games,” while Park shared, “Watching ‘Whenever Possible,’ there were so many games I wanted to try with my son,” confirming he’s a loyal viewer. MC Yoo Jae-suk added, “My kid always asks to play games when I get home, but we’ve never actually done it,” sharing his own dad story.

Their “dad talk” continued. Lee said, “I just went to my son’s elementary school entrance ceremony. I got so emotional.” Park related, “My son just started kindergarten, and I felt proud.” Yoo said, “Entrance and graduation ceremonies make you tear up. The smallest things move you,” as the three dads’ warm chemistry clicked.

The first “Gap Owner” of the day was a traditional art studio teacher who’s a true fan of Yoo Yeon-seok’s character Go Dong-mae from "Mr. Sunshine." Yoo turned up the vibe with special fan service just for them.

The first mission was “Fly, Brush!”―smack a calligraphy brush so it lands inside a distant container. But the brushes kept bouncing out, and Park said, “This is the hardest game I’ve seen on ‘Whenever Possible.’” Then Park and Lee found an unexpected winning strategy. They remembered how actor Son Seok-gu once cleared a game by throwing multiple hangers at once, and applied the same logic here. Tossing several brushes simultaneously, they cleared Level 2 and delivered a heap of prizes to the Gap Owner.

Later, the “married trio” of Yoo Jae-suk, Park Hae-soo, and Lee Hee-joon swapped survival tips for married life, drawing laughs. Lee admitted, “On trips, I’m spontaneous, so my wife gets frustrated. But you just have to go with what your wife says.” Yoo quipped, “If you don’t listen to your wife, it turns from ‘living there for a month’ into ‘fighting for a month.’” Park added, “If my wife is sleeping, I take the hair dryer outside. If there’s a 220V outlet, I’ll dry my hair anywhere.” Lee took it further: “I even read scripts in the gym coach’s office.” They then dropped some advice for “unmarried” Yoo Yeon-seok, setting the room roaring.

The second Gap Owner was a dad who runs a CrossFit gym and his grade-school son and daughter who are obsessed with CrossFit. With the whole family into working out together, the energy was bright and heartwarming.

The next mission was “Barbell Plate Bowling,” rolling plates to knock over dumbbells. With the kids watching wide-eyed, the four “uncles” turned up the competitive fire. “Roll it like a bowling ball,” said Lee, who quickly found the trick and cleared Level 1, sending the set into a frenzy. In Level 2, Yoo Jae-suk’s one shot took down two targets, and Park Hae-soo’s plate made a dramatic bounce to topple a tough-to-reach dumbbell for a thrilling clear.

The prize for Level 3 was a family stay at Muscle Beach. As a dad to a six-year-old who knows the joy of family trips, Park fired up the siblings’ excitement, shouting, “Uncle’s going for it!” On the seventh try, Yoo Yeon-seok went full prone in a prayer pose to launch his plate, and―following Park and Lee―clinched a clean Level 3 finish that blew the roof off. After conquering the final level, the four celebrated with the Gap Owner family by singing a cheer song. Park said, “It felt like coming back to life. So dramatic,” sharing his overwhelmed reaction.
