Fueled by the blockbuster success of the film “The King's Warden,” director Jang Hang-jun’s previous feature “Rebound” is heading back to theaters. The director and cast will even hit the road for in-person stage greetings to spread the word.
Jang Hang-jun and lead actors Ahn Jae-hong, Lee Shin-young, Jung Jin-woon, Kim Taek, Jung Geon-joo, Kim Min, and Ahn Ji-ho will meet fans up close to celebrate the re-release of “Rebound.” The stage greetings kick off Saturday, April 4, at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall, followed by stops at CGV Wangsimni, Lotte Cinema World Tower, Lotte Cinema Konkuk Univ., and Megabox COEX.
“Rebound” is a moving true story set at the 2012 National High School Basketball Championship. It follows a new coach and six players from an underdog team as they sprint through an eight-day miracle no one saw coming. When it first opened in 2023, it drew around 700,000 moviegoers nationwide and fell short of breaking even.
Even then, real audience scores topped 8 out of 10. With the success of “The King's Warden,” there’s fresh buzz around Jang Hang-jun’s direction―raising the question of whether “Rebound” will get the reappraisal it deserves.
“Rebound” returns to theaters starting April 3.
