BLACKPINK’s JISOO says she hopes fans will say she finally found “a role that fits like a glove” with "Boyfriend on Demand".

At the production presentation for the Netflix original series "Boyfriend on Demand" (written by Namgoong Doyoung, directed by Kim Jeong-sik) held at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul on the morning of the 26th, JISOO shared, “I met with the director a lot and talked through everything so I could show a better side of myself this time. Since I’m playing someone around my own age, I thought hard about how to make it feel like the perfect fit for me.”

She added, “I hope viewers watch and say, ‘She really met a character that fits her perfectly.’”

"Boyfriend on Demand" is a romantic comedy about Seo Mirae (played by JISOO), a webtoon PD worn out by everyday life, who subscribes to and experiences romance through a virtual dating simulation. "Boyfriend on Demand" is also the name of the in-show subscription service. Overwhelmed by work and people, Mirae enters a virtual world where she can try the kinds of romances she’s only dreamed of.

Though JISOO is a global star as a member of BLACKPINK, her footing as an actor is still developing. She has appeared in various projects, but reviews of her acting have been on the tougher side. "Boyfriend on Demand" marks her first attempt at a romantic comedy, and all eyes are on how audiences will respond this time.

Director Kim Jeong-sik of "Boyfriend on Demand" expressed strong confidence in JISOO’s performance. “Mirae exists in both reality and virtual reality, and JISOO’s real-life vibe is just like Mirae,” he said. “And JISOO’s glamorous side as an artist mirrors Mirae in the virtual world.”

He continued, “She had to show many different sides within the project, and she pulled off all of them. She handled multiple setups and multiple characters really well. She worked incredibly hard. You’ll see Mirae grow in the drama, and you’ll also see actor JISOO grow. I learned that hard work can beat talent.”

"Boyfriend on Demand" premieres March 6 at 5 p.m. on Netflix.
