Solo singer WOO (29), known as A.M from LIMITLESS/Seong Hyun-woo of a contestant on Mnet’s "Produce 101 Season 2," has revealed that he was once chased by a man wielding a weapon in Jeju Island.
On Feb. 22, he uploaded a YouTube video on his channel “WOO” titled “I Almost Got Killed on a Trip to Jeju, 100% True Story,” sharing what he went through in 2021.
“In 2021, while preparing for solo activities and working on self-written songs, I went alone to Jeju,” he said. “At a restaurant, a drunk man was hurling insults at a foreign part-time worker. I told him to keep it down, and things escalated. Outside, he asked, ‘You good at fighting?’ and then pulled out a weapon.”
“He had his wrist and the handle wrapped tightly in bandages to fix the weapon in place. I knew I shouldn’t fight, so I just bolted to the left,” he continued. “When I looked back, he was chasing me with the knife. I hid in an alley and barely got away, then returned to my guesthouse and called the police. Officers arrived and subdued the man in a nearby alley. The moment I saw the police, the tension broke and I started dry-heaving. Even while writing my statement, my hands and feet wouldn’t stop shaking.”
The man was reportedly arrested on special intimidation charges for threatening someone while carrying a dangerous object. In Korea, special intimidation applies when a weapon or similar dangerous item is involved, and it carries heavier penalties than ordinary intimidation.
“If I had tried to fight back, it could’ve ended really badly,” Sung warned. “Never argue with someone who’s drunk, and be extra careful in secluded places late at night.”
WOO is a former member of the boy group LIMITLESS, and he promoted under the stage name A.M. He gained recognition on Mnet’s "Produce 101 Season 2" in 2017 and released his first solo digital single in 2021.
