"Who Wrote This?" Hong Jin-kyung Reacts as 'Single's Inferno 5' Explodes Out of the Gate
Single's Inferno Season 5
Netflix’s "Single’s Inferno" returns for Season 5, and the fire is already blazing ― the breakneck flirting started the moment the cast hit the beach.

The hit dating reality series, set on the remote “Inferno” island where contestants can only escape to five-star “Paradise” as a couple, dropped Episodes 1-4 on Tuesday, igniting a no-holds-barred flirt-off. The MC panel could barely keep up. “Is there something in the water here?” marveled Hong Jin-kyung as the new singles made their grand entrances.

The women instantly commanded attention: Kim Go-eun radiated a feline allure; Kim Min-ji brought an easygoing, unfiltered charm; Park Hee-seon turned heads with doll-like visuals; and Ham Ye-jin captivated with a refined, understated elegance.

The men matched the energy. Shin Hyun-woo’s rugged, athletic build dominated first impressions; Song Seung-il paired a cool exterior with surprising warmth; Yoon Hyun-je barreled ahead with bold, straightforward moves; Kim Jae-jin’s laid-back confidence drew the MCs’ eyes; and Woo Sung-min rounded out a lineup bursting with soft charisma ― a bona fide “visual explosion.”

Just as the first Paradise pairings wrapped, more singles crashed Inferno, cranking up the tension. Choi Min-a-su stunned in a striking dress; Lim Su-bin kept it quiet but unshakably strong; Lee Joo-young lit up the beach with a sunshine smile; and Lee Sung-hoon arrived with calm, magnetic authority. The social currents only got wilder from there.

The show’s signature “Inferno Game” also leveled up. After a rowdy round of couples dodgeball, a first-ever couple photoshoot mission pushed contestants into daring, close-contact poses ― and sent dopamine levels soaring. With love lines shifting minute by minute, Paradise dates for the winning pairs delivered extra butterflies for viewers.

Producers had teased “a can’t-miss Truth Night,” and they weren’t kidding. With fixed questions and a strict no-no comment rule, the truth game turned brutally candid. Direct pursuits from the women collided head-on, sparking dizzying reversals as love lines flipped in real time and pure chaos took over.

Even the five MCs were stunned. “I’m so confused,” said Kyuhyun, at a loss for words. Hong Jin-kyung erupted: “Who wrote this? Why are the producers so evil?”

PDs Kim Jae-won, Kim Jung-hyun, and Park Su-ji said they engineered new Triggers to draw out raw emotions. “In dating shows, the value of honesty can’t be overstated,” they noted, adding that this season reaffirms candor as the contestants’ strongest weapon ― and promising even bolder, more unfiltered battles for love ahead.

"Single’s Inferno" Season 5, Episodes 5-7, hit Netflix on Jan. 27.
