Choi Hee-seo and Son Suk-ku lead "Bedford Park", which has nabbed an official slot in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Held every January, Sundance is the premier showcase for independent film in the U.S., known for debuting breakthrough works from rising filmmakers. Directors like Quentin Tarantino, Steven Soderbergh and the Coen brothers first caught fire there.

The U.S. Dramatic Competition is Sundance’s marquee section. It’s the first time since "Minari" in 2020 that a film featuring Korean lead actors is competing in this lineup―and this one carries extra charge, with both stars also serving as producers.

Set for a world premiere on January 24, "Bedford Park" marks writer-director Stephanie Ahn’s autobiographical feature debut. The film follows Audrey (Choi Hee-seo), a Korean American woman, and Eli (Son Suk-ku), a former wrestler who was adopted as a child, as their romance pushes them to confront old wounds and begin to heal.

Veteran actors Won Mi-kyung and Kim Eung-soo add gravitas as Audrey’s parents, while acclaimed editor Yang Jinmo―who rose to global prominence for "Parasite"―cuts the film, sharpening its emotional arc.

In an unusually tight field, only 10 titles were invited to this year’s U.S. Dramatic Competition, stoking anticipation for "Bedford Park"s global rollout following its Sundance world premiere.
