The high-stakes series ― pitting under-the-radar “Black Spoon” chefs out to flip the hierarchy through pure flavor against top-tier “White Spoon” celebrity chefs ― dropped its finale (Episode 13) on Jan. 13.
Surviving the second “Endless Cooking Hell” semi-final was the “cooking monster”, Lee Ha-sung, who outlasted 57-year Chinese-cuisine master Hu Deok-juk. Lee advanced to face formidable rival Choi Kang-rok, who had already punched a direct ticket to the final after topping the first “Endless Cooking Heaven” semi-final.
The last challenge asked for “one dish for myself.” After years of cooking for others, both chefs went all-in to plate the ultimate dish that defines them ― a true last supper moment.
As in Season 1, the winner was decided by a unanimous judges’ vote. In a finale where either contender could have taken the crown, Season 2 ultimately belonged to Choi Kang-rok.
After a dramatic showdown, Choi delivered a humble, heartfelt speech: “I’m just someone who does the same work as countless people across the country who are quietly cooking every day. I’ll keep your words close to my heart and think even more deeply about food. I won’t get complacent.”
Runner-up Lee Ha-sung shared, “As a chef, I want to become someone who’s truly great at cooking ― someone whose skills can bring happiness to the people around me, including myself.”
The finale closed on an emotional note, weaving together the chefs’ food and life stories for a poignant send-off.
"Culinary Class Wars" kept viewers hooked each week with fresh missions and rule twists, serving up pure “taste” showdowns between Black Spoon and White Spoon chefs. The series has enjoyed massive global love, topping Netflix’s Global Top 10 for Non-English TV two years running.
