Stray Kids Donate After Hong Kong High-Rise Fire: "Our Hearts Are Heavy"

Stray Kids have donated HK$1 million to support recovery efforts after a deadly fire at a Hong Kong apartment complex.

The group announced on the 28th via Weibo that the contribution was made through World Vision Hong Kong, with funds earmarked for temporary housing and trauma counseling for affected children and residents.

“Our hearts were very heavy when we heard the heartbreaking news from Hong Kong,” Stray Kids said in a statement. “We’re praying for the recovery and safety of the residents and families impacted by the fire, and we extend our deepest respect to all the heroes who risked their lives on the front lines.”

On the same day, the group’s label JYP Entertainment pledged HK$2 million through World Vision Hong Kong for the same relief efforts, including emergency shelter and psychological support.

“We offer our deepest condolences and sympathies to everyone who lost loved ones and homes in this tragic blaze,” JYP said.

According to Hong Kong authorities, as of 4 p.m. KST on the 28th, the death toll from the high-rise fire that broke out on the 26th had risen to 128, with 79 injured. The status of more than 200 people initially reported missing remains unclear, per the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
